Islam motivates its people to have noble morals towards people. One of those morals, is helping fellow Muslims.
In a hadith from Abu Huraira (may Allah blesses him), that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ says:
“Whoever removes a worldly grief from a believer, Allah will remove from him one of the griefs of the Day of Resurrection. And whoever alleviates the need of a needy person, Allah will alleviate his needs in this world and the Hereafter. Whoever shields [or hides the misdeeds of] a Muslim, Allah will shield him in this world and the Hereafter. And Allah will aid His slave so long as he aids his brother” [Muslim].
The Prophet urges us to relieve distress from the other believers. And, there is no doubt, that this kind of deed is great in the eye of God, great in the heart of people. As life is full of hardships and difficulties. Sometimes it may overwhelm the believer until his heart and mind are confused about finding the way out.
At that time, how great it is for a Muslim to hasten to provide assistance to his brother. Extend a helping hand to him, and strive to remove or reduce this distress. And how much comfort this has affected the heart of the afflicted. That much Allah will reward him with relieving him from the greater distress. It is the stress of mauqif and hisab in the Hereafter.
