If you come to attend salah (prayer), you should walk calmly and with full dignity. Because, you are about to come before Allah, the God of universe.
Even if the iqama is already pronounced, just still walk calmly and don’t running. This is one etiquette of attending salah.
A hadith from Abu Hurairah (may Allah blesses him), that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:
إذا أقيمت الصلاة، فلا تأتوها وأنتم تسعون، وأتوها وأنتم تمشون، وعليكم السكينة، فما أدركتم فصلوا، وما فاتكم فأتموا
“When the iqamah are pronounced, do not attend the salah by running. You should walk calmly with tranquillity to join the congregation. Then join in what you catch for and complete what you miss” [al-Bukhari and Muslim].
May Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala receives our Salah and reward it with Jannah! Aameen.
