Don’t Pray To Other Than Allah

Allah Ta’ala said:

And whoever invokes (or worships), besides Allâh, any other ilâh (god), of whom he has no proof, then his reckoning is only with his Lord. Surely! Al-Kâfirûn (the disbelievers in Allâh and in the Oneness of Allâh, polytheists, pagans, idolaters, etc.) will not be successful”(Al Mu’minun: 117).

Shaykh Muhammad bin Salih Al Uthaimin explains:

“Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala explains that the person who prays to other than Allah, even he also prays to Allah, then he is an infidel. Because Allah says (in this ayat) : Surely the disbelievers will not be successful‘”.

Shaykh also explains:

“So whoever prays to other than Allah Almighty to ask something, that is can’t be fulfilled except by Allah, then he is idolatrous and infidels. No different the object of pray is dead matter or alive” (Sharh Thalatsatil Usul, page. 55-57).

Then it is not permissible to pray for sustenance, promotions, asking to be successful in exam, passing a regional election, successful running a business, selling goods, to other than Allah, because this is an act of shirk.

Wallahu a’lam.
