Muslims are not allowed to participate in non Muslim’s religious celebration, or giving support to that kind of celebration. Because it means showing the approval of their beliefs and religions.
Islamic scholars all agree on the prohibition of this kind of act. Because this is a big sin and can lead to kufr. When Allah says about the characteristics of a true believer, Allah says:
وَالَّذِينَ لَا يَشْهَدُونَ الزُّورَ وَإِذَا مَرُّوا بِاللَّغْوِ مَرُّوا كِرَامًا
“That is people who do not witness az zuur (the non Muslim’s celebration) and if he passes it he passes with authority” [al-Furqan: 71].
Ibn Abbas radiallahu ‘anhu says: “az zuur in this ayat, are the celebration days of non Muslims” [Tafsir Al Qurthubi].
Shaykhul Islam Ibn Taymia says: “Imitating them in some of their festivals implies that one is pleased with their false beliefs and practices, and gives them the hope that they may have the opportunity to humiliate and mislead the weak” [Iqtida’ as-Sirat al-Mustaqeem Mukhalifat Ashab al-Jaheem].
